Should airports be privatized? Vote in our daily poll! Tell Jason Kenny that a pipeline from Alberta to British Columbia would add $55 billion to Alberta’s economy. Article content Tell Jason Kenny that a pipeline from Alberta to British Columbia would add $55 billion to Alberta’s economy. Ottawa (Liberal) policies are already hurting investment in Alberta. Recommended Videos Curtis Radcliffe (Talk of separation can also hurt investment.) Look toward India If we want a pipeline to the west coast, we are talking to the wrong prime minister.

We should be dealing with (Narendra) Modi from India, not Carney. India is just joining the industrial age, and need all the oil they can get. Alberta, not Canada, has the third biggest oil reserve in the world and would love to sell it to them.

If all that is stopping 1.5B people from buying that oil is a pipeline, it will get built in a heartbeat. Canada will have no choice but to let them do it! George Stafford (The problem has never been finding buyers for our oil.) Another GG from Quebec (Re: ‘Louise Arbour, former Supreme Court justice, to be Canada’s next governor general,’) Here we go with the third GG in a row from Quebec.

What is this? Franco-Britain accord eternal? Both Julie Payette and Louise Arbour were born in Montreal, and Mary Simon in northern Quebec (Kangiqsualujjuaq).

Enough already. What about spreading out the GG goodies? How about Alberta demands equal representation time?

Better yet, dump the GG position entirely and convert it to a ceremonial Ombuds Office representing all Canadian provinces and territories. It’s already way beyond time for constitutional change in what’s left of Canada. Dyan Cross, Ottawa (We, way out here in Alberta, won’t hold our breath.) Role of the monarchy Peter Miles (‘Who cares about the monarchy?’ Letters to the Editor, Sun, May 13) is so far out to lunch that it is scary.

He needs to do his homework. The Governor General is the link that provides continuity of government. No legislation is passed until the GG signs off.

When an election is called, the GG takes control of the government. Further, the GG attends to ceremonial events, relieving the government from such duties. The GG is the tie to the King, who, in these modern times, represents 56 diverse countries, including Canada.

Dick Varley (The monarchy’s role in Canada always generates discussion.)
