February 6, 1934 - May 23, 2026 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Neil Peterson, who passed away peacefully in hospital on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the age of 92. Neil was born on February 6, 1934, in Comox, British Columbia. He lived a long and meaningful life marked by hard work, service to others, and a deep connection to family and community. For most of his working years, Neil was employed as a truck driver with Imperial Oil, where he earned a reputation for dedication and reliability. Beyond his career, he generously volunteered countless hours as a tracker with Search and Rescue, using his skills to help those in need and contributing greatly to his community. Neil was predeceased by his beloved wife and life partner, Amelia Peterson (née Zimmaro), whom he dearly missed. It brings comfort to those who loved him to think that they are now reunited once again. He is survived by his sister, Dolly Ludlow, and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory. A special thank you goes to his devoted nieces, Terry and Angela Robinson, who kept a watchful eye on Neil and provided care, support, and companionship throughout his later years. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Neil’s dear friend, Fred Vos. Their regular dinners together and Neil’s trips to Fred’s farm brought him great enjoyment, companionship, and purpose in his later years. Fred’s friendship meant a great deal to Neil and enriched his life immeasurably. Neil will be remembered for his quiet strength, generous spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. He always seemed to have a joke on hand and was quick with a witty remark that could bring a smile to those around him. His stories, laughter, and willingness to help others will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Neil will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. In keeping with Neil’s wishes, no service will be held.
