5-star WR Monshun Sales makes Indiana history with commitment to Hoosiers

Indiana football lands five-star recruit Monshun Sales, marking the highest-rated commitment in program history.

Up until Curt Cignetti took over, it was nearly impossible for college football fans anywhere to imagine Indiana winning a national championship. That changed in January when the Hoosiers completed an unbeaten run by beating Miami in the College Football Playoff. Fast-forward six months, and the Hoosiers have done something else that, up until recently, seemed impossible.

On Friday, Indiana landed a commitment from in-state five-star receiver Monshun Sales out of Lawrence North. The 6-foot-5, 195-pounder chose the Hoosiers over Alabama, Ohio State and Texas. According to 247Sports, Sales ranks as the No. 9 overall player in the 2027 cycle and the No. 1 wide receiver in the class.

The updated USA TODAY Sports composite rankings have him as the No. 8 overall player as well as the No. 2 wide receiver. His decision comes after taking official visits to each of the schools in his final four. Indiana was the first to host him as he was in Bloomington on April 24.

As a junior, Sales helped lead Lawrence North to a 7-3 record. He led the team in receiving, catching 37 passes for 794 yards and nine touchdowns. He averaged 21.5 yards per catch for a Lawrence North offense that averaged 43.8 points per game.

Sales makes history with Indiana commitment A commitment from a player of Sales' caliber is something completely new for the Hoosiers. According to 247Sports, he is Indiana's first-ever five-star commitment, making him the program's highest-rated in history. Bloomington South (IN) safety Dasan McCullough was Indiana's highest-rated high school commitment before Sales when he was a part of the Hoosiers' 2022 class.

With his commitment, Sales now headlines a 2027 Hoosiers recruiting class featuring 17 commitments. Indiana now has commitments from the state's top two receiver prospects in Sales and Branden Sharpe, a four-star from Brownsburg.
