THUNDER BAY — An early morning crash that happened yesterday involving several motorcycles in Thunder Bay killed a 58-year-old woman from Sault Ste. Marie. The fatal crash closed a section of Highway 11-17 near the Terry Fox National Historic Monument. According to the OPP, multiple motorcycles were involved in the collision Saturday at around 7:30 a.m., closing both eastbound and westbound lanes near Highway 527, north of Thunder Bay.
Emergency crews were directing motorists to turn around at the scene, while transport trucks were left waiting as the highway remained closed. The OPP confirmed around 6:40 p.m. Saturday that the highway had re-opened. OPP said those involved in the crash were being assessed for their injuries Ontario 511 first reported the incident at approximately 7:40 a.m. -- With files from TBnewswatch.com.
