AFC Wimbledon have re-signed winger James Tilley from League One rivals Wycombe Wanderers for an undisclosed fee. The 27-year-old has signed a three-year deal to begin a third spell with the Dons after spending the second half of last season on loan at Plough Lane. Tilley helped Johnnie Jackson's side secure promotion to League One in 2024-25, scoring crucial goals against Accrington Stanley and Morecambe on the road to Wembley.
He returned on loan after leaving Wimbledon for Wycombe last summer and also played a key role in helping the club retain their League One status following promotion. "I'm absolutely buzzing," Tilley told the club website. "This is the one club that feels like home for me and my family.
Wimbledon is where I've been my happiest playing football." Tilley initially joined Wimbledon permanently in the summer of 2023 and has made 115 appearances across his previous two spells, scoring 19 goals. One of the standout moments of his most recent loan spell came when he scored a long-range winner away at Mansfield Town, a strike that was voted the club's goal of the season.
