Arrest made after nearly 2 dozen parked vehicles vandalized in Winnipeg

An arrest has been made after nearly two dozen vehicles were vandalized while parked on a West Broadway street on Wednesday morning.

An arrest has been made after nearly two dozen vehicles were vandalized while parked on a West Broadway street on Wednesday morning. According to the Winnipeg Police Service, the incident took place around 6:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Furby Street, where nearly two dozen parked cars had their windshields and windows smashed. Officers patrolling the area were notified of the incident, but the suspect had already fled the scene.

Police then spoke to several victims and watched home surveillance video showing a suspect using a chain to vandalize the cars. Around 9:20 a.m., police located a man at Rupert Avenue and Main Street who matched the suspect’s description. He was arrested and found to be in possession of a chain.

A 30-year-old man has been charged with 22 counts of mischief under $5,000/obstruct enjoyment, one count of possession of a weapon and one count of failure to comply with a probation order. He is in custody and the charges haven’t been proven in court.
