The fire is currently estimated at 115 hectares in size and an Evacuation ALERT remains in effect for 72 addresses in the Premier Lake area. Aircraft, including a skimmer group, are supporting ground crews and will be actively working today. Heavy equipment has developed a machine guard along the south and sections of the eastern flank, reopening existing roads wherever possible. Crews are reinforcing completed guard and tying sections together as additional personnel arrive on site.

Heavy equipment continues putting in machine guard around the fire where conditions permit. Danger tree assessment and falling continues to support the safe movement of personnel and equipment. The RDEK suggests if you plan on moving RV trailers or boats, the Evacuation ALERT stage is the time to do that.

If an Evacuation Order has been issued, there is no time to allow that to happen. Mild winds and cooler morning temperatures helped limit fire behaviour through the morning, BC Wildfire Service reported. If firefighting aircraft are nearby, please clear the area and stay near the shore to avoid interfering with operations, especially in the Columbia Lake and Premier Lake areas.

An anchor point (area that crews can safely work from) has been established. The second fire burning in the region is N10802 – Moyie Falls. This fire is estimated at five ha and is located west of Lumberton.
