Edmontonians in the community of Cameron Heights are doing what they can to help the families devastated by Tuesday afternoon’s fire . Two homes on Cameron Ravine Way and Cameron Ravine Drive were damaged by flames, leaving those families with heavy losses. The Cameron Heights Community League has organized a relief effort and is collecting items like toiletries, clothing, pet food and chargers.

The items are being assembled at the community league’s hall. Donations of grocery store and pharmacy gift cards are also being requested. A bakery in the neighbourhood, Malina Ukrainian Bakery, stepped up by offering food and drink to the families.

Meanwhile the community league’s board of directors set up an online fundraiser that’s raised more than $11,000 since it was created. “During this incredibly difficult time, we are asking our community to come together and support those affected,” the fundraiser reads. “Every donation, no matter the size, will help provide essential items and assist these families as they begin the long process of rebuilding their lives.

(James Dunn, CityNews) Edmonton Fire Rescue Services (EFRS) responded to the blaze Tuesday at 4:18 p.m. Five units were dispatched, with crews arriving at the scene six minutes later.

Three additional units were called after a second-alarm fire was declared. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and no injuries have been reported. The post Cameron Heights fire:
