Lovepreet Deo expressed her gratitude after receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award at Airdrie City Hall for her commitment to fitness and the local community.
Lovepreet Deo was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the City of Airdrie on July 7 at the City Hall. The honour was presented to her in recognition of outstanding dedication to active living, leadership, contributions to the community. Moreover, the honour includes a Lifetime Genesis Place Pass.
"I can't describe how I feel ... there are no words," Deo shared. "I am honoured, I never thought I would receive an award like this." She returned to the bike for her 45th birthday and completed a stationary half-marathon to highlight the realities of Cerebral Palsy, while raising money for cancer alongside, on June 10 at the Genesis Place.
City of Airdrie's Director of Community Services Brad Anderson also accompanied Deo for the half marathon. "The marathon went great; my goal was [to finish] in two hours and 30 minutes, but I finished in two hours and seven minutes," Deo said. Deo spends four days of the week at the Genesis Place, and she has been using the facilities since 2014.
When asked what her future plans are that she may be looking forward to, Deo shared that whenever she has time, she likes to do her normal workout. Moreover, next year, she hopes to do another marathon with Brad Anderson again. Deo took the opportunity to thank the Airdrie City Council for the honour and Anderson for his support.
