Cyclospora cases surge in U.S, but none reported in Canada

The illness is cyclosporiasis, caused by a microscopic parasite called Cyclospora cayetanensis.

It triggers watery diarrhea, cramps and fatigue that can last for weeks. The infection is rarely fatal but can be severe, particularly in older adults, young children and people with weakened immune systems. (Klein Media stock photo)
