David López will continue wearing the Girona jersey for another season. The Barcelona-born defender, whose contract had ended on June 30, has reached an agreement with the red-and-white club to extend his commitment until June 2027. With this renewal, Girona ensures the continuity of one of the most experienced players in the locker room.

The player arrived at Montilivi in the summer of 2022 from RCD Espanyol and, since then, has been part of some of the brightest moments in the Club's history, such as qualifying for the Champions League and scoring the Club's first goal in the top continental competition, against Feyenoord, in October 2024. Although injuries limited his role during the final stretch of last season, the Club has chosen to retain a player who brings experience and leadership. With this agreement, David López will embark on his fifth season as a Girona player.

Born in Barcelona on October 9, 1989, David López was trained in the RCD Espanyol academy, although before establishing himself in the first team, he played on loan at Terrassa, Leganés, and Huesca. In 2014, he embarked on his first adventure abroad by signing with Napoli, with whom he won the Italian Super Cup. Two years later, he returned to Espanyol, where he became one of the locker room leaders and served as captain.

In the summer of 2022, he began his stint at Girona, contributing his experience both in central defense and midfield.
