An Eastern Passage man facing child sexual abuse charges was not ready to seek his release when he appeared in Halifax bail court Thursday.

An Eastern Passage man facing child sexual abuse charges was not prepared to seek his release when he appeared in Halifax bail court Thursday via a video link from jail. Kyle William Brimicombe, 31, is charged with two counts each of sexual interference, sexual assault, and making child sexual abuse and exploitation material, formerly known as child pornography, three counts of possessing child sexual abuse material, and one count of accessing child sexual abuse material. Police allege the offences were committed in Eastern Passage between July 2022 and March 2025.

It’s unclear from court documents whether the sexual interference and sexual assault charges involve one or two alleged victims. Brimicombe was arrested July 10 after he turned himself in to police. Crown attorney Michael Coady is opposed to Brimicombe’s release.

A bail hearing was to be held Thursday, but defence lawyer Jennifer Anderson told the court her client was consenting to remain in custody while they put together a release plan. Judge Michael Sherar remanded Brimicombe and ordered him to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Aug. 12 for election and plea. Brimicombe has 15 convictions on his criminal record since April 2015.

The convictions include two for possessing drugs for the purpose of trafficking, two for breaching probation, five for breaching release conditions, four for weapons offences, one for common assault, and one for refusing the breathalyzer.
