Forge into Canadian Championship semis with aggregate win over Saint-Laurent

Antoine Batisse scored in added time as Forge FC advanced to the Canadian Championship semifinals with a 2-1 win over Saint-Laurent on Sunday. Hamilton-based Forge, currently the top team in the Canadian Premier League, were pushed by Saint-Laurent before eventually winning the two-leg quarterfinal with an aggregate score of 3-2. Brian Wright put Forge up 1-0 with a goal in the second minute.

But Saint-Laurent, which plays in the semi-professional Ligue1 Québec, drew level on a goal in the 75th minute from Rickson Aristilde. Forge will next face the winner of the quarterfinal between CPL sides Atletico Ottawa and Supra du Québec. The teams square off Aug. 11 in Ottawa.

Supra won the opener 3-1. Sunday's other quarterfinal saw Major League Soccer's CF Montréal host the CPL's Vancouver FC, with Montreal leading 2-1 after the first leg. The other semifinal between the Vancouver Whitecaps of MLS and CPL side Cavalry plays its second leg Monday.

The Whitecaps lead the Calgary-based squad 4-1 after the first leg as they seek a fifth straight Voyageurs Cup.
