Former Toronto Blue Jays player Joey Loperfido gets engaged to longtime girlfriend: 'Faith said yes!'

The 27-year-old MLB player took advantage of the All-Star break to get down on one knee.

A wedding is in the works for a former Toronto Blue Jays player! Left-fielder Joey Loperfido took advantage of the All-Star break and proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Faith Reilly. The athlete recently got down on one knee in Bay Head, N.J., which sits on the Jersey Shore.

The couple made a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, featuring sweet pictures from the moment, including Loperfido on one knee in a circle of blue, white and purple flowers. The photo carousel also included the athlete lifting his now-fiancée into an embrace, Reilly sitting on Loperfido's lap while showing off her engagement ring and snapshots of the couple walking on a boardwalk. Their post also included a video of a plane passing by in the sky carrying a banner that read, "Faith said yes!"

People in the comments section of the post shared their congratulations and offered well-wishes. Some wives and girlfriends of Blue Jays players also shared messages of support. "The best!

Love you guys," Charlise Springer, the wife of Blue Jays designated hitter George Springer, commented. "Incredible! Congrats, you two!" Marissa Hoffman, the wife of Blue Jays pitcher Jeff Hoffman, chimed in.

"Love you guys," Stefanie Brejcha, the partner of Blue Jays player Ernie Clement, penned, adding "Thank God" in another comment. "Omg! The moment we've been waiting for!

Congratulations!" Emily Little, who's married to Blue Jays pitcher Brendon Little, shared. "So incredibly happy for you both," someone noted.

"Love you guys!" Loperfido, 27, and Reilly, 26, have reportedly been dating for years, and they both grew up in New Jersey. While Loperfido was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Haddonfield, N.J., Reilly is from Mountain Lakes, N.J., but played lacrosse at Bucknell University in Pennsylvania.

Loperfido made his MLB debut in April 2024 with the Houston Astros. He joined the Blue Jays later that July in a trade for pitcher Yusei Kikuchi. This past February, Loperfido was traded back to the Astros in exchange for outfielder Jesús Sánchez.

Reflecting on his time with the Blue Jays, Loperfido shared he was grateful for his time in Toronto. "I feel like I can leave knowing I'm a better player now than I was when I got here," Loperfido said in a clip shared on Feb. 13. "I'm so grateful to have gotten to play with this group.
