A man from Hanover is facing charges after police received tips about a stolen vehicle.

A man from Hanover is facing charges after police received tips about a stolen vehicle. Officers were called to the 7 th Street area around 9 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses said a man stole a vehicle, then sped off and blew through several stop sighs.

Officers tracked the vehicle to the corner of 11 th Avenue and 8 th Street. They said the suspect got out of the moving vehicle and ran off. The vehicle rolled backwards and hit two other vehicles, while the suspect ran through an unlocked door into a nearby home.

When he was confronted by a person inside, he took off into the backyard where he was arrested by Hanover Police officers. The 26-year-old was charged with theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop after an accident, break and entering a house to commit an indictable offence and three counts of mischief under $5,000. Police said the tips from witnesses were “instrumental” in the man’s arrest.

No injuries were reported.
