8:57 a.m. A heat warning for the Okanagan Valley, Shuswap, South Thompson and the Fraser Canyon is still in place as temperatures are expected to climb into the mid- to high 30s C Thursday. Forecasters say humidex values could approach the high 30s in the Okanagan and Shuswap as increased moisture pushes into the region.

The agency warns the heat poses a moderate risk to public health, particularly for seniors, people with chronic medical conditions, those with limited mobility and people who live alone. Residents are urged to stay hydrated, seek air-conditioned or shaded spaces, check on vulnerable friends and neighbours, and never leave children or pets in parked vehicles.
