Around 3:30 p.m., West Shore RCMP say they were called to the scene where a Ford F-150 had “swerved” off the road before hitting the shoulder and rolling onto its passenger side.

The truck’s lone passenger, a 36-year-old man, was freed from the truck, say police. The man was checked out by BC Emergency Health Services for injuries. While interacting with the man, RCMP officers say they saw “signs and symptoms” of impairment, so they asked the driver for a breath sample.

The breath sample came back with a “WARN” reading. Due to the result of the breath test, the driver received a three-day immediate roadside prohibition. His truck was impounded, and police say the vehicle was uninsured.

The man received a violation ticket for being uninsured and an additional 90-day driving prohibition. “Impaired driving continues to put everyone on our roads at risk and is entirely preventable,” said Cpl. Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer for the West Shore RCMP.

“This collision serves as a reminder that choosing to drive after consuming alcohol can have serious consequences.”
