Joliet police seek information after 18-year-old man is shot Saturday

An 18-year-old man was shot on Saturday evening and Joliet police are asking the public for information about the incident.

Joliet Police are searching for information about the person who shot an 18-year-old man Saturday evening. According to police, officers were called to the area of East Benton Street and Polson Place about 6:45 p.m. July 11 following a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers reportedly found an 18-year-old man who had been shot in the back and left arm.

Officers provided emergency medical aid until the Joliet Fire Department arrived and transported the victim to a hospital. He reportedly suffered life-threatening injuries and has been transferred to another hospital for further treatment in the day since he was admitted. Joliet Police say officers secured the scenes and conducted an extensive canvass of the area that revealed spent shell casings from the shooting.
