The couple posed for photos during the 2026 All-Star Red Carpet Show presented by Mastercard at Independence Mall in Philadelphia on Tuesday, July 14. Upton wore a short, off-the-shoulder dress paired with gold heels and sunglasses, while Verlander coordinated in a blue suit with a white collared shirt and sunglasses. Their daughter, Genevieve, wore a white two-piece outfit with a matching headband and silver shoes, while the couple's young son, Bellamy Brooks, was held by Upton in coordinating brown overalls, a white collared shirt and brown closed-toe shoes.

The outing marked a rare public appearance for the family of four, who have occasionally brought their children to baseball's biggest events over the years. Upton and Verlander first met while filming a commercial in 2012. After several years together, the Detroit Tigers pitcher proposed in 2016, and the pair married on Nov. 4, 2017, just days after Verlander won the World Series.

The following year, they welcomed their first child, daughter Genevieve, who was born three days after the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary in November 2018. "She melts my heart. I'm so obsessed with her," Upton previously told PEOPLE ahead of her first Mother's Day in 2019.

Verlander also opened up about becoming a father during an interview with PEOPLE that same year. "I really can't even put into words how much I love this little girl," he said. "It's been an amazing experience that I'm not taking for granted.

I'm relishing every moment." Upton later reflected on how becoming a mother reshaped her priorities. "Everything I do is for her.

Wanting to make the world better for her. Wanting to be better for her. Wanting to be with her more," she said during an appearance on Today with Hoda & Jenna in 2020, adding that motherhood had "really changed everything."

The couple expanded their family again in 2025 with the arrival of their son, Bellamy Brooks. Earlier this year, Upton, 34, and Verlander, 43, also welcomed cameras into their newly renovated Central Park apartment for a tour with Architectural Digest, showing off the colorful home they designed together with interior designer John Ruggiero. While showing viewers around the vibrant living room, Verlander joked that the apartment reflected his wife's bold design choices.

"This is Kate's place — she had full design control. A lot of people call it a She Shed, but we call this her Shenthouse," he said. "Yeah, I really made that statement by painting the whole thing pink," Upton added with a smile.

The family's latest public appearance also comes a week after Verlander announced that the 2026 MLB season will be his last. "I've always believed that as long as I could compete at the level I expect of myself, I'd keep playing," he wrote in a post on X announcing his retirement.

"I never wanted to retire because of a milestone, a number or a date on the calendar. I wanted the game to tell me it was time." In the same message, Verlander thanked those who had supported him throughout his 21-year career, including his wife.
