The bushfire broke out sometime after 1 p.m. on July 17.

Kelowna firefighters extinguish bushfire near Okanagan College Published 2:01 pm Friday, July 17, 2026 The Kelowna Fire Department was quick to respond to a bushfire in front of Okanagan College on Friday afternoon. The fire broke out behind a bus stop near a sidewalk and metal fence on KLO Road across from De Montriel Court sometime after 1 p.m. on July 17.

Crews were quick to knock down the blaze that was contained to a single bush. A Black Press reporter at the scene says a banner on the fence was also burned down. The cause of the blaze is not known at this time, but Black Press has reached out to the Kelowna Fire Department for more information.
