These athletes are participating in a variety of sports that include swimming, athletics, soccer, basketball, rugby and lacrosse.

LAKELAND - A contingent of athletes from northeastern Alberta, including many from across the Lakeland Region, are getting set to compete in the 2026 Alberta Summer Games. The Alberta Summer Games will be playing out from July 16-19 in Strathcona County. The local athletes are competing in various sports, including athletics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, beach volleyball and swimming.

Several of the Zone 7 competitors are representing Lakeland communities such as Lac La Biche, Bonnyville, St. Paul and Cold Lake during the three-day annual sporting event. According to information from the Alberta Summer Games website, competing from Lac La Biche are Corbin and Easton Downes (swimming), Kaylee Melnyk (soccer), Kayin Biollo (beach volleyball), and Harrison Britton (lacrosse). St. Paul athletes include swimmer Erin Braun, along with Madalyne Anderson (soccer), Keagan Ference (soccer), Rylan Fontaine (soccer), Vann Johnsen (soccer), as well as Brielle Lavoie (softball).

Several participants from the Bonnyville area are also taking part in the athletics competitions, including Devyn Friesen, Emerson Grambo, and Skyler Coates. Other Bonnyville Athletics athletes include Julie Boutet, Julie Hornseth, Cooper German and Avery Mitchell. The Bonnyville lacrosse contingent will be represented by Autumn Clarke, Vienna Colbourne, Avery Scott, and Callen Fox.

Half a dozen soccer players from the Bonnyville area will be taking part in this year’s Alberta Summer Games also, including Regan Bordeleau, Kaylie Hunter, Brielle Vasseur, Kale McInnes, Bentlee Babb, and Jacob Stone. Emerence Cardinal will be competing in softball alongside fellow Bonnyville softball players Samantha Hornseth, Charlie Parmar, Callee-Rae Rivard, Brielle Smyl, Harper Theroux, and Lauren Wurzer.
