SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A 27-year-old man has been arrested and charged in North Carleton with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking. On June 23, the P.E.I. Joint Enforcement Team (JET) made a traffic stop in that community and arrested Graydon James Hearn. Police reported seizing 16 grams of fentanyl and 1.5 grams of cocaine during the stop.

Hearn will appear in court on Aug. 19. “Fentanyl is an extremely potent synthetic opioid. It is associated with overdose deaths across Canada.

We take trafficking of this very dangerous drug seriously and recognize the considerable harms it causes,” said Cpl. Gavin Moore, media relations officer for the P.E.I. RCMP. JET is a stand-alone policing unit comprised of officers from the P.E.I. RCMP, Summerside Police Services, Kensington Police Services and RCMP eastern region federal policing, who work to address drugs and organized crime in P.E.I.
