An 18-year-old Red Deer man is in custody following an alleged stabbing earlier this month.

Man suffers life-threatening injuries following alleged Red Deer stabbing Published 9:40 am Tuesday, July 14, 2026 An 18-year-old Red Deer man is in custody following an alleged stabbing earlier this month. Red Deer RCMP responded to the Riverside Meadows neighbourhood at about 4:43 a.m. on July 1, where a stabbing was reported via 911 call.

Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old man with serious life-threatening injuries. He was transported by EMS to hospital for treatment. “Red Deer RCMP immediately contained the area and located the suspect.

There was no further risk to public safety,” police stated in a media release on Tuesday, July 14. Further investigation by Red Deer RCMP’s General Investigative Section led to the execution of a search warrant on a residence in the Riverside Meadows area of Red Deer. Police charged the 18-year-old with aggravated assault, robbery and failing to comply with a release order.

Following a Judicial Interim Release hearing, the accused was remanded into custody and was scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on July 3.
