Montreal police investigate torched vehicle in Rivière-des-Prairies Posted July 10, 2026 7:31 am. Last Updated July 10, 2026 7:32 am. Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after an SUV was torched and a pick up truck was damaged in the Rivière-des-Prairies borough Thursday night.
SPVM received several 911 calls close to midnight reporting a vehicle on fire near the intersection of Arthur-Léveillé Street and 5th Avenue. Upon arrival, police officers noticed the firefighters were working to control the fire. The SUV was completely destroyed while a pick up truck nearby sustained significant damage, according to SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils.
No incendiary object was found at the same and the circumstances surrounding this fire are currently unknown. The investigation is ongoing by the SPVM arson unit. The car was towed for analysis.
Investigators are also looking for possible surveillance camera footage nearby.
