The body of a 36-year-old man who had fallen into the water last Sunday in Montreal’s Old Port was finally recovered Thursday evening. A call was made to 911 around 6:15 p.m. to report the presence of a body in the waters of the St. Lawrence River near Dieppe Park in the Ville-Marie borough. The body was located by the Montreal Police Service (SPVM) water patrol before being recovered by the Montreal Fire Department. The deceased was subsequently identified as the man who had fallen into the water last Sunday, confirmed Caroline Chèvrefils, a spokesperson for the SPVM. The investigation has been referred to the coroner’s office so that the exact cause of death can be determined.
