Nando's is giving out free chicken this weekend across Ontario. Here's how and where you can get it

The community initiative runs on Saturday, July 18 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nando's locations across Canada.

Nando’s locations across Ontario are offering Canadians free chicken this Saturday, July 18. With July 18 marking Mandela Day, the popular peri-peri chicken joint is running an annual initiative following the late activist and South African president’s example of giving back to communities.  Here’s how you can get your hands on free chicken this weekend.

A post shared by Nando's PERi-PERi Canada (@nandoscanada) Nando’s is asking Canadians to “raid your pantry” this weekend to bring in non-perishable food donations in exchange for a free quarter-chicken and peri-fries.  “Nando’s PERi-PERi is inviting Canadians to turn compassion into action by joining a nationwide food drive in honour of Nelson Mandela Day,” a news release said.

“The reward? Good karma and complimentary flame-grilled chicken.” The donation period is running from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. across participating Nando’s locations in Ontario. Each guest is asked to donate at least one non-expired, non-perishable food item, or make a financial cash donation to receive the free quarter-chicken leg or breast.

 All non-perishable pantry items will be donated to food banks across Canadian communities. Â
