Accused facing several charges, including impaired driving, drug possession and resisting arrest, after being pulled over near Nairn-Hyman Township

A 33-year-old woman from Sudbury is facing several charges, including impaired driving and drug possession and resisting arrest, following a traffic stop in Nairn-Hyman Township. In a July 13 press release, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) report that on June 26 at approximately 5 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment responded to a traffic complaint of a vehicle swerving through traffic and passing unsafely on Highway 17. Officers located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and subsequently arrested the driver for impaired operation.

During the investigation, police also seized suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $795. The 33-year-old driver was charged with: - Operation while impaired - Dangerous operation - Resisting a peace officer - Failure to comply with a probation order - Possession of a Schedule I substance (cocaine) - Failure to surrender an insurance card - Driving a vehicle with cannabis readily available The accused is scheduled to appear in court in Espanola on Tuesday, August 4.
