Canada News Centre 16 Jul 2026, 20:00 GMT+10 Infrastructure modernization Havre-Saint-Pierre, Quebec, July 16, 2026 - The Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec are announcing a total of $910,309 in investments in the Port de Havre-Saint-Pierre to modernize and optimize the Portail Pelagie-Cormier, a key reception pavilion for tourism and economic development in Minganie. The total project cost sits at over $1.6 million.

Through this strategic project, the Port de HavreSaintPierre will be able to consolidate its role as a regional economic driver, in particular by improving the quality of the services it offers to renters, cruise passengers and visitors. It also aims to ensure the durability of the tourist reception building, guaranteeing its functionality and performance in the long term. The Portail Pelagie-Cormier project will be implemented in three phases: The project directly aligns with the tourism and economic priorities of the MRC de Minganie and the Ville de Havre-Saint-Pierre, which support the sustainable development of their natural, maritime and cultural assets.

The Honourable Melanie Joly, Minister of Industry and Minister responsible for Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED), joins Kateri Champagne Jourdain, Minister of Natural Resources and Forests, Minister Responsible for the Societe du Plan Nord and Member for Duplessis, to announce this project today.
