RCMP investigating ‘suspicious’ fire at Aurora College housing unit in Fort Smith Police say evidence suggests fire may have been lit intentionally RCMP say they're investigating a fire in Fort Smith, N.W.T., they believe may have been set intentionally. At 4 a.m. on July 9, Fort Smith RCMP received a call to respond to a fire at Aurora Garden housing unit, on Field Street, according to a news release Monday morning. RCMP and the town’s fire department found the front steps and entry to the Aurora College building on fire and extinguished the fire to prevent it from spreading.

It and the adjacent units were vacant at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. RCMP say preliminary information from the scene indicates the fire may have been set intentionally and their investigation is ongoing. Police are asking anyone with information about the fire to contact them.
