Solo canoe-tripper still not located despite weeks long search efforts

RCMP provide update on missing Teslin River canoeist Published 3:45 pm Monday, July 13, 2026 The mystery of what happened to a solo canoe-tripper on the Teslin River remains unsolved after Yukon RCMP released an update on their investigation into the disappearance of Dominik Bandorski. According to an RCMP press release published on July 10, multiple searches by land, air and water have lead investigators to Bandorski who was originally reported missing on June 11 after his overturned canoe and personal equipment was located on the Teslin River.

According to the press release, searchers deployed a plethora of resources in the weeks since, including multiple flights by search and rescue aircraft, several boat patrols and an extensive scouring of the surrounding land by personnel on foot and ATV with assistance from a police dog services team. RCMP say they have also made contact with several river users who were travelling the waterway around the time of Bandorski’s disappearance and have thoroughly assessed any information they provided. The RCMP says that despite these “extensive air, ground, and water search efforts over several weeks, Mr. Bandorski has not been located.”

According to the release, the investigation remains ongoing and “investigators will continue to assess any new information that may assist in locating [Bandorski].” Anyone with any information that could be relevant to the search is urged to contact the Whitehorse RCMP detachment at 867-667-5555.
