Ricky Manz faces various charges, including assaulting a police officer, mischief and failing to comply with an undertaking and release order.

His trial is set to start Jan. 5 in Swift Current, Sask. Manz owns a former school building in the village of Richmound, Sask., about 360 kilometres west of Regina, near the Alberta border. He lived in the building with Romana Didulo, the self-proclaimed "Queen of Canada," and her so-called Kingdom of Canada followers for two years.

Richmound locals have said they were tormented by the cult and that the building was leaking sewage. Manz and Didulo were arrested last year during a police raid after reports someone inside the building had a firearm. In March, all charges against Didulo and one charge against Manz were stayed.

Village residents recently held a celebration to mark a new beginning, as cult members have not returned to the building.
