Search for missing man at Mara Lake still ongoing Published 11:37 am Sunday, July 12, 2026 Search and rescue teams are now on their third day of looking for a man who went missing on Mara Lake. The Shuswap Volunteer Search and Rescue (SVSAR) and the Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) are both attempting to locate the missing man. According to Ed Henczel, spokesperson for COSAR, the missing man went into Mara Lake on Friday evening, July 10, and did not resurface.

The added that the man did not have a life jacket and alcohol is suspected to be a factor. A Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue vessel and crew was seen searching Mara Lake Saturday afternoon, July 11. Henczel confirmed with a Black Press reporter that the search is still ongoing as of Sunday afternoon, July 12.

This is now five searches of Shuswap-Okanagan waters that have taken place in the last several weeks, including three confirmed drownings. – With files from Brendan Shykora
