A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for the region — including Summerland, Penticton and Osoyoos — at 4:40 p.m. It comes about five hours after ECCC hit the area with a heat warning as daytime temperatures reached 35 C. Tonight’s potential thunderstorm could produce “damaging wind gusts, up to quarter-size hail and heavy rain,” the federal agency said.
