Access to I.R.#4 (Narcisse) and I.R.#13 (Range 13) have been cut off, but the LSIB said in a release that no residents are currently impacted by the flow of debris.

Access to the area around the slide has been restricted due to the potential stability issues, and they have activated their EOC to monitor the situation further. “If you are in back-country areas, please make sure you are keeping an eye on the hills around you, and if you notice a debris flow or slide, please get to a safe area and call 911 to report it,” the LSIB asked. “The safety of all people, all living things, infrastructure, and the lands remains LSIB’s first priority.”

The LSIB is currently working to get the area assessed and a plan in place for potentially reopening the road. Based on the sections the LSIB said were cut-off, the flow is located to the north of the area of the 2023 slide that cut off more than a dozen residents of the Chopaka Reserve. That slide came down in an area impacted by the Snowy Creek Wildfire, and ranged in depth from 2.4 to 3.6 metres as it passed over the road with a width up of over 30 metres.
