Several train cars tumbled into a body of water on Monday morning after a derailment in southwest Calgary. Calgary police say a train derailed around 7:50 a.m. near the interchange of Stoney Trail and Macleod Trail, just east of Sheriff King Street SW. The derailment sent multiple rail cars into nearby water.

Images from the scene show at least half a dozen train cars derailed, and several partially submerged in water. A train derailment in southwest Calgary sends several cars into a nearby body of water on July 13, 2026. (CityNews/Max Latimer) Police and fire crews are on scene.

No injuries have been reported. Due to safety concerns, the public is asked to stay away from the area. Police say traffic may be disrupted near Shawville Gate and the surrounding transit hub as the response continues.
