Two arrested after shots fired into the same rural Lunenburg County home twice in two weeks

Shots were fire into the home in Nineveh July 12 after a similar incident two weeks earlier. There were no injuries.

RCMP in Lunenburg County have arrested two men after shots were fired at a residence in Nineveh, about 10 kilometres southwest of New Germany. Police say they were called about several shots being fired into a home on Highway 208 just after 11:45 p.m. on July 12. No one was injured.

Police identified a suspect vehicle and, while en route to the house, spotted the vehicle and stopped it. Two men inside were arrested and a rifle was taken from the vehicle. Orland James Barrett, 68, of Hubley, is charged with: - uttering threats - possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose - using a firearm in the commission of an offence - intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless - unauthorized possession of a firearm - unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized - unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle - possession of a weapon obtained by crime The second person arrested, a 57-year-old man from Halifax, will be facing similar firearms-related charges.

He was released on conditions and is due in court on Sept. 9. Investigators also allege that Barrett was involved in a similar shooting at the same house on June 28. In that incident he’s been charged with: - intentionally discharging a firearm while being reckless - unauthorized possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized - unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle - possession of a weapon obtained by crime - Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose - unauthorized possession of a firearm Barrett was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on Aug. 19.
