Two officers were hurt while checking in on a person who had been released from custody.

Two officers were hurt while checking in on a person who had been released from custody. The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police went to a home in Fergus on Saturday around 8 a.m. for a compliance check. When officers tried to arrest the person, they were assaulted.

OPP said they had minor injuries. A 21-year-old from Fergus was charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, two counts of obstructing a peace officer, mischief (destroys or damages property) and failure to comply with a release order. Police also charged an 18-year-old from Fergus with assaulting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and theft under $5,000.
