Veterans crosswalk to be unveiled downtown by Kamloops Legion this week

The Kamloops Legion is holding a public unveiling ceremony of the freshly painted crosswalk at the northwest side of the Battle St. and Third Ave. intersection at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 7.

The Kamloops Legion is holding a public unveiling ceremony of the freshly painted crosswalk at the northwest side of the Battle St. and Third Ave. intersection at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 17.

The event is part of a celebration to mark The Royal Canadian Legion’s 100th anniversary. Following the unveiling, the Kamloops Legion will host a public reception and open house at its 425 Lansdowne Street location at 1 p.m. The local legion branch is also selling tickets for a dinner and musical performance later in the evening. Food will be served at 5:30 p.m.

The Kamloops Legion said all are welcome to attend the events. “Whether you've been a member for decades, joined us recently, or have never visited before, this is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the people, friendships, and community that have made the Royal Canadian Legion such an important part of Canadian life for the past century,” it said in a social media post.
