An Awesome Initiative From 33 Games and Beyond the Pixels 33 Games has announced a new partnership with Beyond The Pixels to make premium physical game publishing more accessible for independent developers. Through a new initiative called The Forever Project, the companies aim to give indie creators an affordable, self-service way to release collector-quality physical editions of their games without the high costs and complicated processes typically associated with physical publishing. The collaboration brings together 33 Games’ expertise in physical manufacturing, publishing, and retail fulfillment with Beyond The Pixels’ experience in game development, community building, and original IP creation.

Together, they are introducing a streamlined platform that allows developers to produce premium PC and Mac physical editions using 33 Games’ signature USB Cartridge packaging. As competition on digital storefronts continues to grow, The Forever Project offers indie developers another way to reach players. Instead of relying solely on digital marketplaces, creators will be able to sell physical editions directly through their own websites, crowdfunding campaigns, gaming events, and selected retail partners.

The initiative also opens up additional revenue opportunities while giving fans something tangible to collect. The concept has already shown promising results. Beyond The Pixels successfully funded its modern retro shooter Astro Burn on Kickstarter, reaching 156% of its funding goal.

The campaign highlighted that many players are still eager to support high-quality physical releases when paired with unique indie games. Both companies believe physical editions create a stronger connection between players and developers by turning games into lasting collectibles rather than just digital purchases. Developers and publishers will be able to register their interest ahead of The Forever Project’s official launch in August 2026.

It’s an exciting step for the indie scene, giving smaller studios another opportunity to stand out while offering players a physical keepsake they can proudly add to their collection.
