Montrealers travelling on Air Canada flights have a new way to get to the Trudeau International airport starting Monday. Air Canada launched a shuttle service between downtown Montreal and the airport to provide a reliable transportation option to its customers, the airline said. The company estimates that passengers could save up to 25 minutes during peak traffic using the shuttle which will also have access to a private airport entrance.

“Our customers can now bypass traffic and avoid waiting in taxi lines,” Ranbir Singh, director of regional airlines and markets, Air Canada. “By combining frequent downtown service and faster, more direct access to YUL, we are making it easier for them to connect to Air Canada’s global network.” Related: New rideshare pickup at Montreal airport frustrates arriving passengers The launch of the bus service comes amid the busy summer travel season.

In recent weeks, travellers have also complained that the construction at the airport caused delays due to traffic congestion while entering the airport. Passengers also reported facing delays with rideshare services like Uber and Lyft after the pick up locations were moved. “Pending the commissioning of the REM station and new drop-off areas, which will help address congestion at the airport, this initiative will provide passengers with an additional transportation option that will be simple, fast, and integrated into their travel experience,” said Jerome Conraud, vice-President of strategy, planning, and sustainability at ADM.

The service will run every 15 minutes from 4:45 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. and every half hour after that until 9 p.m. From the airport , the service will run from Door 7 on the Departures level and run every 15 minutes from 5:15 a.m. and 6:45 a.m. and every half hour after that until 10 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased at the airport. In the event of a shuttle delay, Air Canada customers with a connection time of at least 95 minutes will be offered complimentary flight rebooking options, subject to availability, the company said.

Customers requiring assistance with boarding a wheelchair or other mobility aid should contact The Landline Company, which operates the shuttle, in advance of travel to arrange accommodations.
