Android 17 may be out in stable format now for Pixel devices, but Google is still rolling out QPR1 Beta updates of the software, and Beta 7 is the latest, fixing several bugs, one of which has likely been hugely annoying for anyone that has had to deal with it. As with all Android beta updates, Android 17 QPR1 Beta 7 will go out to a wide range of compatible phones over the air, meaning you can download it simply by tapping a notification or by going to settings. However, this is only possible if you’re part of the Android beta program.

If you’re not part of the beta program, you can join up pretty easily by enrolling through Google’s official webpage for it. It’s that simple. Since this isn’t a major Android release, users shouldn’t expect any huge features or sweeping changes.

These beta builds are more about making things even more stable and trying to squash as many bugs as possible. Say, a friend’s phone that maybe needs a little juice. However, there was a bug that was present in the software that, if accessed via the quick settings button for the feature, the charging wouldn’t begin. The bug also caused an issue that repeatedly displayed the charging icon.

Both have been fixed. Other bugs that have been fixed with this update include a one that caused the quick settings font size controller to crash, which stopped users from adjusting the size of text from that panel. Additionally, there was a bug that caused a gap to appear between the mobile data and battery icons in the quick settings bar when Wi-Fi was turned off.

This has been corrected. So if this visual bug bothered you, it’s gone now. If you’re not part of the beta program, you can install this update via the compatible system images, which are available for the Pixel 6a (not the regular Pixel 6 series phones) and all Pixel devices up to the Pixel 10 series.
