A base jumper who was stranded mid-cliff in B.C.’s Sea to Sky region was rescued by helicopter in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Squamish Search and Rescue shared photos and a summary of the incident, which they responded to with assistance from North Shore Rescue and Talon Helicopters. “Using a helicopter hoist, North Shore Rescue inserted our technicians into steep terrain where they were able to safely reach the subject, build a rope rescue system, and lower them to a location where they could be extracted,” according to a social media post.

“An additional several members hiked into the scene to support the operation.” Squamish SAR also noted many nearby residents would have noticed what seemed like “unusual” activity while multiple teams were on scene in the air and on the ground. The operation began late Monday night and concluded around 2:30 a.m. “Thankfully, despite the challenging location, the subject escaped with only minor scratches and was otherwise unharmed,” the post said.
