If you’re looking for a refreshing drink to quench your thirst at the Salamander Summer Music Festival in Brandon this weekend, you’re in luck. The Sweet Tooth of Brandon announced on Facebook that it will set up a booth from today through Sunday to sell three of the local business’s signature drink options — dalgona coffees, dirty sodas and dirty Alanis.

Having never tried any of these intriguing drinks, I thought I would have a taste of each. I went to The Sweet Tooth’s business at 2-839 18th St. and started my order with a dalgona plain iced coffee, which I was very excited to get my hands on as an avid coffee drinker. The $6 coffee is made with whipped instant coffee foam, milk and crushed ice, and served in a plain plastic cup.

While the coffee didn’t look very exciting, it tasted good. The coffee was smooth and tasted strong. While I usually prefer a sweeter coffee, this drink would be perfect for someone who doesn’t have a strong “sweet tooth.”

However, if you’re looking for a sweeter option, for an extra 25 cents you can add vanilla or caramel syrup. For $6.50, you can order a dalgona Oreo cheesecake, which comes with crushed Oreo, chocolate syrup and cheesecake on top. Or you can get a dalgona Oreo cookie dough, which has cookie dough on top instead of cheesecake.

The crushed ice was a nice touch that makes any drink feel refreshing. Next, I ordered a dirty soda. I decided to go with the classic dirty Dr Pepper, which is a combination of Dr Pepper, coconut syrup and half-and-half cream.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from this odd combination of liquids, but it tasted better than I had anticipated. While the taste was good, I don’t think I could finish the whole drink as it was very sweet. As you may expect, it tasted similar to a Coke float but with Dr Pepper instead and even sweeter.

The soda, which costs $5.49 for a small, was served in the same plastic cup as the coffee. I found the drink tasted better than it looked, as the cream didn’t seamlessly mix with the soda, leaving floating pieces of cream inside unless constantly stirred. Dirty sodas made with 7UP, Mountain Dew, Orange Crush and Diet Pepsi were also available.

The last drink I ordered, the cherry bomb Alani, was by far my favourite and not just because it had the most caffeine. The cherry bomb Alani is made with cherry slush-flavoured Alani, which is an energy drink, cherry syrup, lime syrup and cherry-flavoured cold foam. From time to time, I will have an Alani energy drink, but I couldn’t imagine what it would taste like with the added ingredients.

When I took the first sip, I was pleasantly surprised. The drink, which cost $8.99, had the perfect amount of sweetness and carbonation. I also found this drink looked the most appealing out of the three, with its bright pink colour and foam top.

But I did need to stir it frequently because the liquids quickly separated. There are eight different dirty Alani options, all made with different flavoured Alani energy drinks. If you’re planning on going to the Salamander Summer Music Festival this weekend, I would recommend stopping by The Sweet Tooth’s booth.
