Cops investigating alleged sex assault of young girl

Suspect was accompanied by other adult men, force believes

Article content Police in Fredericton say they’re investigating the alleged sexual assault of a young girl by a man who was accompanied by other men. In a statement recently posted on social media, the Fredericton Police Force (FPF) said it happened in the Saint Anne’s Point Drive area of the city in the early hours of Sunday, July 5. The FPF’s Special Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, the statement read.

“It is believed the suspect was accompanied by additional adult males,” the statement read. It later added: “FPF Patrol officers and K9 unit searched the area, however the suspects remain at large. “Investigators are asking anyone with information, or who was in the area at the time, to contact the Fredericton Police Force at 506-460-2300 or to provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.”

The girl’s age was not released; the statement described her as a “female youth.” No physical description of the suspect or the other men allegedly present was provided. More to come ...
