We'd heard that the possibility of him moving from an assistant coaching role to head coach was very real.

Keep in mind that this was expected. Owen Protz was talking about him as if he were the future head coach at the development camp. That explains it.

Bouchard's assistant from 2014 to 2022 (Armada, Rocket, and Gulls) as well as during the 2023–2024 season in Syracuse. He returned to Laval to assist Pascal Vincent in 2024 so he could be closer to his family. And now, he's been given the full-time position moving forward.
