AROUND THE COUNTIES WITH SYLVIE. On July 11th, I attended the second day of the Festival International Afro & Diversités de Cornwall SDG (FIADCSDG) in Lamoureux Park. When I arrived for the evening’s final performances, the park was alive with rhythmic music and a festive atmosphere.

Chris Precious, performing under the stage name “Chris Fire,” captivated the audience from the moment he stepped onto the stage. Combining singing, dancing, and audience interaction, he quickly drew spectators into his performance before transitioning into a mesmerising Afro-Caribbean-inspired fire show. Through skilled fire-manipulation, dramatic body paint, and vibrant traditional-inspired attire, Precious delivered spectacular fire-eating and fire-breathing displays that celebrated Caribbean cultural traditions while creating a stunning visual experience.

Beyond the flames, he continued to engage the crowd as an interactive entertainer, inviting children to participate in an energetic limbo dance. With the bar lowered after each round, participants enthusiastically tested their flexibility and skills as the crowd cheered them on. The evening concluded with a powerful performance by Montreal-based band The One Love Project, led by Dano Peace.

Bringing a message of unity, rhythm, and celebration to the stage, the band had the audience dancing and singing along throughout their set. Blending reggae, pop, and dance influences, they created an infectious atmosphere that reflected the festival’s celebration of cultural connection and diversity. Their dynamic stage presence entranced the multi-generational crowd with popular favorites before transitioning into a heartfelt tribute to legend Bob Marley and his enduring messages of peace, love, and togetherness.

The festival will conclude on Sunday, July 12th with an International Picnic Day, taking place from 2 to 6 p.m., featuring additional entertainment for the community to enjoy. (A French version follows.) AUTOUR DES CANTONS AVEC SYLVIE.

Le 11 juillet, j'ai assisté au deuxième jour du Festival International Afro et Diversité Cornwall SDG (FIADCSDG) au parc Lamoureux. À mon arrivée pour les dernières performances de la soirée, le parc palpitait au rythme de la musique et d'une ambiance festive. Chris Precious, sous son nom de scène « Chris Fire », a captivé le public dès qu'il est monté sur scène.

Combinant chant, danse et interaction avec le public, il a rapidement entraîné les spectateurs dans sa performance avant de passer à un spectacle de feu fascinant inspiré de l’Afro-Caribéen. Grâce à sa maîtrise du feu, son maquillage corporel dramatique et ses tenues colorées inspirées des traditions, Precious a offert des démonstrations spectaculaires avalant et soufflant le feu, célébrant les traditions culturelles caribéennes tout en créant une expérience visuelle époustouflante. Au-delà des flammes, il a continué à captiver la foule en tant qu'animateur interactif, invitant les enfants à participer à une danse limbo énergique.

Avec la barre abaissée après chaque tour, les participants ont testé leur souplesse et leurs compétences avec enthousiasme tandis que la foule les encourageait. La soirée s'est terminée par une performance impressionnante du groupe montréalais The One Love Project, dirigé par Dano Peace.

Apportant un message d'unité, de rythme et de célébration sur scène, le groupe a fait danser et chanter le public tout au long de son spectacle. Mélangeant reggae, pop et influences de danse, ils ont créé une atmosphère contagieuse qui reflétait la célébration de la connexion culturelle et de la diversité du festival. Leur présence scénique dynamique a captivé le public multi-générationnel avec des titres populaires avant de passer à un hommage touchant à

la légende Bob Marley et ses messages prévalents de paix, d'amour et de solidarité. Le festival se conclura le dimanche 12 juillet avec une Journée du pique-nique international, de 14h à 18h, proposant des animations supplémentaires pour le plaisir de la communauté.
