Dennis Flintoff announces candidacy for mayor in Quinte West election

Article content A three-way race for the mayor’s job is now in play in Quinte West with a third candidate throwing his hat in the ring following Mayor Jim Harrison’s confirmation he is bowing out of municipal politics. Dennis Flintoff announced on Wednesday he will run in the municipal election October 26 when city residents go to the polls. Recommended Videos He will square off against Quinte West Coun(s).

Shelley Stedall and Zack Card who have previously announced their own campaigns for mayor. In Flintoff’s announcement, he said he is committed to provide transparent leadership, responsible financial management, and a strong focus on infrastructure and community growth. Flintoff said he is entering the race because he believes Quinte West has tremendous potential and that residents deserve a municipal government that is accountable, fiscally responsible, and focused on delivering value for taxpayers.

“Quinte West is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. I am running for mayor because I believe we can strengthen our community through responsible decision-making, improved infrastructure planning, and open, transparent leadership,” he said in a release. An unknown on the local political scene, Flintoff provided no details on his background that would help him tackle the demanding role as mayor.

However, Flintoff said his campaign will focus on several key priorities: - Fiscal accountability and responsible use of taxpayer dollars. - Long-term infrastructure planning and investment. - Transparent and accessible local government.
