Doug Nadorozny to chair Manitoulin Health Centre board

Former CAO of the City of Greater Sudbury now calls Manitoulin Island home

Article content A former senior leader for the City of Greater Sudbury is now chair of the board for the Manitoulin Health Centre. Doug Nadorozny takes over from Dennis McGregor, who has served as chair for the past five years and will continue to serve as vice-chair. Nadorozny joined the hospital’s board of directors in November 2023 and has served as a member of its governance committee. He currently serves as Chief Administrative Officer for the Town of Aurora and brings decades of executive leadership experience in municipal government, business, and governance, the release said. Before joining Aurora in 2016, Nadorozny held several senior leadership positions with the City of Greater Sudbury, including general manager of Growth and Development and Chief Administrative Officer.

Before entering municipal government, he successfully founded and operated several technology companies before they were sold. Nadorozny holds a Master of Business Administration from Laurentian University and has extensive governing experience with a number of public institutions. Born and raised in Sudbury, he has enjoyed a longstanding connection to Manitoulin Island.

He and his wife, Sharon, recently made Providence Bay their permanent home after spending more than 30 years enjoying the Island with their family. “It is an honour to serve as chair of the Manitoulin Health Centre Board of Directors. I look forward to working alongside my fellow board members, leadership, physicians, staff, volunteers, and our communities as we continue strengthening healthcare across Manitoulin Island,” Nadorozny said.

President and CEO Paula Fields welcomed Nadorozny to his new role. “Doug brings exceptional executive leadership, governance expertise, and a deep commitment to community service,” she said. “His collaborative leadership style, strategic vision, and passion for Manitoulin Island will be invaluable as we continue advancing our strategic priorities and delivering exceptional healthcare close to home.

“At the same time, we are incredibly grateful to Dennis (McGregor) for his outstanding leadership as board chair over the past five years. His dedication and advocacy have helped position Manitoulin Health Centre for continued success, and we are pleased that he will continue to serve as vice-chair, providing valuable continuity and mentorship during this transition.” The release said McGregor is known for his thoughtful leadership, unwavering commitment to good governance, and meticulous attention to detail, and he helped strengthen the organization while fostering accountability, transparency, and strategic decision-making.

“Serving as chair of the Manitoulin Health Centre Board has been a tremendous honour,” McGregor said. “I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together and grateful for the dedication of our board members, leadership team, physicians, staff, volunteers, donors, and community partners. “I look forward to supporting Doug and continuing to serve the organization as vice-chair as we work together to strengthen healthcare for the people of Manitoulin Island.”
