Ottawa firefighters helped to free a driver who became trapped inside their vehicle following a single-vehicle crash off Highway 417 in Ottawa’s rural west end on Sunday morning. The Ottawa Fire Services say they were called to westbound Highway 417 near Kinburn Side Road at 3:57 a.m. after receiving reports from paramedics of a vehicle in a ditch. Firefighters arriving at the scene found the driver still trapped inside the vehicle, according to a news release.
After about 25 minutes, crews were able to remove the driver from the vehicle using specialized tools. Ontario Provincial Police say one person was transported to hospital by paramedics with minor injuries. No charges were laid.
