Calgary police say a driver pulled over for speeding on Stoney Trail last month was not only going excessively fast – he was also playing a video on his phone. Police say the driver was stopped on June 12 near Glenmore Trail S.E. while travelling 191 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. He also failed a breathalyzer test, police said.

As a result, his licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle was seized for 30. He was fined $300 and must appear in court – where he’ll face more fines. Police shared details of the incident on social media as part of Impaired Driving Awareness Month.

“If you have been drinking or consuming drugs, don’t get behind the wheel,” the post says. “Choosing to drive sober, or helping someone else make that choice, can mean the difference between someone coming home safely or not at all.”
